May 14th  2015:

As we want the taproom to become most quaintly and cosily, we started to be busy ahead and have cut and peeled some heavy logs, which will become pillars for the middle roof beams.

 

Das werden mal die massiven Stützen für die Mittelpfetten im Gastraum und der Brauerei, als auch für die Fußpfette auf der Terasse. Zum besseren Trocknen haben wir die Stämme hingestellt

That will become the massive columns for the middle roof beams in the guests room and in the brewery, as well as for the foot beam on the terrace. We put ’em upright for better drying

June 06th 2015:

At least here it is, the long time desired in advance permission for earth moving and foundation works. On Monday the profile board will follow, Tuesday the excavaters will run.

Since today there is action on site. Of course we are only collaborating with local companies, so the Schneider Bau company (Schneider construction) from  Hatzfeld is on the go, there we know that we’ll get professional quality.

Ob#s stürmt oder schneit, ob die Sonne uns lacht, ob glutheiß der Tag oder dunkel die Nacht... Conny und das Team von Schneider Bau sind auch bei schlechtem Wetter durch nichts aufzuhalten

July 22nd 2015:

Today the masons have a day off and the brewers themselves were busy. Door cases made from oak wood extremely massive have been carpentered and installed, a doorway arc has been masoned from beautiful hand formed Belgian bricks

July 21st – 25th 2015:

The preparations for the roof erection are running at full speed, master carpenter Justus Gelbach (Zimmerei Gelbach, Schwarzenau) has the roof already on stock, now everybody is planning and painting to get everything ready on time.

Viele Hände, schnelles Ende. Schalung für 440 qm Dachfläche sind zu streichen, das sind so einige Bretter…..

Many hands, quick end. Form boards for 400 m² roof will have to be painted, that’s a lot of stuff…..

Handgehackt sollen die Hölzer im Gastraum werden, so mancher Hobelspan muss fliegen

Auch die Maurer waren wieder fleißig, Polier Cornelius und sein Team haben selbst heut am Samstag geschafft und noch betoniert und trotz Sturm die Pfettenauflager hingezaubert. Starke Leistung Jungs!

Also the masons have been busy again, chief mason Cornelius and his team have worked on Saturday and even storm could not stop’em to do the concrete works for the roof beam bases. Magic performance guys!

 

 

July 27th – August 07th 2015

On July 27th, finally we could start with the erection of the roof. 2 weeks full of busy work, together with the profi team from Gelbach Holz and many voluntary helpers from the neighborhood, the village and the families. Our pecular thanks to all those busy helpers, which supported us during countless hours to bring this project to success.

September 05th 2015

The outer frame of the cooling chamber has been erected today. What protects against heat, also protects against the cold, so we heated it up with a big construction site lamp and,  protected against the evening chill, enjoyed an after work beer in the coziness 😉

September 26th 2015:

We had the instruction to let the new oven dry some days longer, but it is cold and we can’t await to feel the cozy warmness  of the ground oven in the parlor….

Not everything is finally finished, but we have nearly made it. Neighbours and friends are there and everybody helps to clean up and polish, the result is presentable.  Big praise and thanks to all our numerous helpers.
